What Time is It? (Considering God’s Timeline in Our Days)

What Time is It? (Considering God’s Timeline in Our Days)

Three months ago, no one could have guessed we’d see the entire world shut down over a virus that has shown itself to be in the same category of the seasonal flu. Three months ago, no one would have guessed that it would be actually against the law for Christians in western nations to attend church together. Three months ago, no one could have guessed we’d see cities in the US and Canada take serious steps to defund and dismantle their police force. We are living through days of overlapping crisis on a global scale.
It’s no wonder that people who never have read the Bible are picking it up for the first time. People are reading Revelation and many are wondering what days are we in?
Scripture predicts the end of the world and the beginning of a new heavens and new earth for the saints of God – the question of when that will happen has been the subject of countless books, debates, and videos.
In one of the most well known passages in Scripture, Jesus himself foretold that before He returns to judge the world, there will be an increasing spiral of natural disasters, godlessness, persecution, and apostasy (2 Tim 3:1; Matthew 24:4-28).  Additionally, Christ’s Apostles predicted the rise of a world leader, who will exalt himself over and against all religions, and claim to be God himself (2 Thess 2:1-12). This global leader, the anti-christ, will be worshiped the world over, and control access to a global economy – only those who pledge allegiance to it will be allowed to buy and sell (Rev 13).
It’s this last part that has conspiracy theorists of our time are having a heyday. Do they have a point? Are we actually moving into the time when we’ll see these predictions fulfilled?
It’s easy to understand why conspiracy theorists are having a heyday, as people are trying to make sense of what’s happening over the world. It’s hard to ignore the implications of the removal of individual rights and draconian controls we’ve seen exercised over the globe so swiftly. More disturbing is how many have bowed the knee to the so called gods of safety.
Joining me today is one of our elders, Tim Nissly. We’re going to try to tackle a few things today:
  1. How should average saints think about conspiracies?
  2. Where do you think we are (in terms of God’s timeline)?
  3. How should we respond to the chaotic times we face; what can we do as average saints living in exceptional times?
