Mercy Ministries
Being the Hands and Feet of Jesus Through Practical Love
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13:35
Our Purpose
At Fellowship Baptist Church, Mercy Ministries exists to demonstrate the love of Christ in tangible, compassionate ways. We serve as the hands and feet of Jesus by meeting the practical needs of individuals and families within our church body and community.
Because the needs are diverse, Mercy Ministries is made up of several focused categories—each led by a dedicated volunteer. Together, we share the same goal: to care for people in ways that build relationships, provide encouragement, and point hearts to Christ.
How We Serve
Meals
We organize meal trains for families with new babies, those recovering from surgery, or experiencing grief and loss.
Prepared Meals
Our team keeps the church freezer stocked with ready-to-serve meals for pastoral visits and urgent, short-term needs.
Food Rescue
We receive and distribute donated food from local grocery stores to bless families in need within our church family.
Showers
We celebrate weddings and first-time parents by hosting meaningful, joy-filled showers that reflect the love and support of the church.
Funeral Support
We assist families in times of loss by helping with logistics, planning, and catering during funeral services.
Mercy Closet
Our congregation donates clothing, baby supplies, and household items to support those in need—white also building relational bridges and showing Christ’s love.
Personal Helps
We offer visitation and care for those needing encouragement, whether due to illness, isolation, or life challenges. This can include grocery runs, rides to appointments, or simply showing up with a warm meal and listening ear.
Practical Helps
We provide assistance with moving, rides to church, small auto and home repairs, and support for new Canadians settling into life in Edmonton (beds, furniture, kitchen essentials, etc.).
Why It Matters
These acts of mercy open the door to deep personal connection and gospel-centered care. As we serve people in their homes or during key life moments, we have the opportunity to pray with them, share Christ’s love, and strengthen their walk with Jesus.
Get Involved
With a growing church, we are always looking for more people who are willing to serve—whether in one area or many. If God is stirring your heart to get involved, we’d love to connect with you.
