Jesus once said to his disciples, “…the poor you will always have with you and you can do good to them whenever you will…” (Mark 14:7) Since then, His followers have been doing good to the poor throughout the world. Here in Edmonton, there are many who are hurting, hungry and homeless. Today, I’m sitting down with a dear brother who’s given his life in serving them in the inner city, and helping them find real hope.
Mark Turner is a dear brother in Christ and a few months ago, we sat down over lunch, and I was blessed by his insights so I wanted to have him on the show.
Mark serves at Hope Mission which started as a soup kitchen offering meals to people facing unemployment, and homelessness at the onset of the Great Depression. Since then, it has grown into an integral ministry to men, women and youth in Edmonton, serving 1000 meals a day, and providing shelter for over 500 people in the inner city.
