PERSPECTIVE – BLACK LIVES MATTER

PERSPECTIVE – BLACK LIVES MATTER

It seems that the whole world is talking about the problem of racism these days…many are concerned about racial injustices and rightfully so.
As average saints we understand that justice objectively exists because of God himself. Justice is not a social construct, but an unchangeable attribute of God. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of God’s throne, and He himself is just (Deut 32:4; Ps 89:14; Isaiah 38:18). In that light, we also understand that racism is an ugly sin ,rooted in pride and hate; it is a failure to embrace and obey the second greatest commandment: love your neighbor as yourself.
Christians know that every single human life is intrinsically valuable because every human being bears the image of God. Therefore, it simply follows that all black lives matter. They are fellow image bearers of God made to reflect the glory of God.
Yet, Black Lives Matter, as an organization, is actually a Marxist anarchist group. It doesn’t operate on a biblical framework for justice, and has shown it actually doesn’t care for all black lives, just the ones that help advance it’s political agenda. That agenda includes the dismantling of the family, the basic building block of society, and defunding the police, who are integral to a functioning society as they enforce the rule of law.
So how should we as average saints respond to this growing movement? How should we apply the law of God and the gospel to the sin of racism?
