This course explores the foundations of Reformed Soteriology, examining how God’s sovereign grace alone saves humanity from sin, as affirmed in our Statement of Faith. Throughout the lectures, we will trace the historical development of doctrines of salvation—contrasting monergism and synergism—while dissecting the biblical mechanics of grace, election, and total depravity through key texts like Romans 7 and 9. We will also confront modern cultural assumptions surrounding human autonomy, justice, and love, testing them against historical theology and Scripture to understand how the Five Solas remain vital for the church today. By the end of this class, you will have a deep, integrated understanding of how the doctrine of salvation elevates God’s glory and shapes Christian conviction.
