For most Christians the concept of a small group of saints meeting for prayer, worship, and fellowship is familiar. While it may seem strange to be talking about small groups in the context of a pandemic, when social distancing is both practiced and enforced, its actually quite timely.
Big church has been blown up by this crisis – all we have left are small groups – as it turns out, it may be all we need. After all, it was Jesus himself who began his work with the most famous small group ever, the Twelve, and before the gospel exploded across the ancient world there was a small group of disciples gathered together in prayer, wondering, waiting, and hoping in what God was going to do next. It seems that living out our calling in small groups is an integral part of God’s plan for His Church.
